ASMG Commerce Portal

A custom B2B ordering system for the asphalt and paving industry.

For Massachusetts-based All States Materials Group, we designed the public storefront and built a custom WooCommerce ordering system behind it: connecting company accounts, purchase orders, delivery requirements, and the teams that fulfill them.

Custom B2B commerce development

More than a product catalog.

Ordering specialty asphalt materials is not a standard retail transaction. A buyer may represent several locations, need a specific package size, submit a purchase order, and arrange either less-than-truckload (LTL) or bulk delivery.

We built a custom ordering layer on WordPress and WooCommerce to support that workflow. The system connects approved customer accounts, product access, pricing rules, ship-to locations, sales representatives, and order communications within one commerce portal.

The public website makes products and technical documents easy to find. Behind it, a purpose-built administration system gives the ASMG team tools to manage customer access, catalog rules, pricing data, and orders.

The account structure is a defining part of this industrial e-commerce project. A company, its purchasing users, and its delivery locations have different responsibilities within an order. Connecting those records allows the storefront to reflect customer access and product rules while giving sales representatives and staff the context needed to review a purchase-order submission.

Product research and fulfillment also need to stay connected. Package options, safety data sheets, and technical resources inform the buyer’s selection; delivery questions and order communications carry that context into the operational process. The ASMG portal demonstrates how custom WooCommerce development can organize the relationships behind a materials order as carefully as the public product catalog.

What the project involved

Building the system behind the storefront.

The work extended beyond page design. It required a custom WordPress plugin, a structured data model for companies and delivery locations, role-based permissions, and checkout logic aligned with industrial purchasing.

We developed import tools for customer, location, product, pricing, and historical sales data from spreadsheets. That information feeds account access, purchasing rules, order history, and frequently ordered products.

The ordering journey ties product and quantity choices to an approved account and delivery location. Purchase-order details and LTL or bulk logistics questions are captured at checkout, while pricing and freight can remain subject to ASMG review. Custom order statuses and notifications support the handoff from submission to shipment.

Industrial ordering portal features

Built for the way materials businesses operate.

Company accounts and ship-to locations

Approved users work within assigned company accounts and delivery locations. Role-based access supports customers, sales representatives, and internal staff without exposing another customer’s orders.

Purchase-order checkout and delivery requirements

A dedicated PO checkout captures the purchase-order number, ship-to location, and different logistics questions for LTL and bulk orders. Pricing and freight review are kept distinct from order submission.

Customer pricing and product-access rules

Backend tools manage account-specific pricing and SKU permissions. Review controls can withhold numeric prices, while product-access rules determine what an account is allowed to order.

Order management and sales-team notifications

Custom statuses cover PO submission, review, scheduling, and shipment. Order notifications route to the appropriate team and representative, with customer acknowledgments, shipment updates, and controlled access to shipping documents.

Order history and repeat-purchase support

Customer-scoped order history and frequently ordered products bring previous purchasing activity into the portal. Spreadsheet import tools connect historical sales records with current customer accounts.

Technical resources and bilingual navigation

Structured package sizes, quantity options, safety data sheets (SDS), and tear sheets support product research. English and French Canadian navigation serves the portal’s U.S. and Canadian audience.
